Litigating in the Middle East 2025

At the recent International Bar Association’s Litigating in the Middle East event held on February 9th-10th, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, our founding partner participated as a moderator in an insightful session titled Navigating Dispute Resolution Mechanisms: From Litigation to ADR. The session addressed critical topics surrounding commercial dispute resolution, with a focus on the distinctions between onshore and offshore commercial courts in the Middle East. The discussion covered jurisdictional frameworks, procedural differences, and the types of cases best suited for each court.

Additionally, the panel explored the growing trend of compulsory Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), emphasizing its increasing efficiency and significance in resolving disputes. The session featured a distinguished panel of legal experts, including Hend Al Mehairi (Al Tamimi & Company, UAE), Ahmad AlShorbagy (YFLG – Al-Yaqout & Al-Fouzan Legal Group, Kuwait), Claudia Fares El Hage (Al Marri & El Hage Law Offices, Qatar), William Hooker (Alston & Bird, UK), and Ben Sigler (Stephenson Harwood LLP, UK).

The discussion was engaging and provided valuable perspectives on navigating the evolving landscape of dispute resolution in the region.

We are honored to have sponsored the International Bar Association Litigating in the Middle East Conference in Abu Dhabi. It was a privilege to be part of this esteemed event, which brought together leading legal professionals to discuss key developments shaping the future of dispute resolution. Our founding partner, Dr. Mahmood Hussain, also served as a co-chair for the event, contributing his expertise and leadership to the insightful discussions.
