- Successfully defended a leading trading company in a AED 30 million commercial lawsuit involving claims of excessive customs duties, unpaid invoices, and lost profits arising from the termination of an exclusive distribution agreement. The court dismissed all claims in full and awarded costs to the client following expert proceedings and detailed financial rebuttals.
- Successfully defended an arbitrator in annulment proceedings before UAE courts, where a party sought to set aside the arbitral award on grounds of bias, lack of due process, and jurisdictional defects. The claimant also sought compensation directly from the arbitrator. The court upheld the validity of the arbitration, rejected all claims and compensation reliefs, and awarded full costs to the arbitrator, reinforcing the integrity of the arbitral process.
- Successfully represented a claimant before the Dubai Court of Appeal in a high-value insurance dispute involving unlawful termination of an international health policy. The insurer alleged fraud and cancelled the policy, cutting off critical coverage. We overturned the initial decision, disproved the fraud allegations through expert and documentary evidence, and secured compensation, including for moral damages—marking a rare precedent in UAE insurance litigation.
- Successfully represented a claimant in a contractual dispute involving the introduction of a third-party service provider (TPA) in lieu of a claimed amount. The counterparty challenged the Dubai Courts’ jurisdiction, arguing the matter fell within the exclusive purview of the Insurance Disputes Committee due to both parties being insurance companies. We established that the dispute was purely contractual and not insurance-related, securing favorable judgments at both the First Instance and Appeal stages.
- Successfully defended an e-commerce platform in 10 lawsuits filed by a hospital claiming medical costs for injured delivery drivers allegedly affiliated with the platform. We demonstrated that the client operates solely as a digital marketplace without owning vehicles or employing drivers, who are engaged through third-party service providers. The court and expert committees accepted our arguments, resulting in multiple favorable first-instance & appeal judgments dismissing the claims for lack of standing.
- Successfully defended a leading technology company in a labor dispute before the Dubai courts, where a former employee claimed profit share, bonuses, and incentives beyond the agreed gratuity, leave balance, and notice period salary. We demonstrated that neither the employment contract nor company policy supported such claims. The court ruled in favor of our client at both first instance, appeal, and cassation rejecting all claims and awarding costs and attorney’s fees against the claimant.
- Handled dozens of trademark and trade name cancellation actions before the UAE authorities and courts on behalf of leading regional and international clients. Successfully challenged infringing or bad-faith registrations, secured cancellations, and enforced brand rights through administrative and judicial channels, including the Ministry of Economy, TMO, and UAE Courts.
- Led numerous petitions and appeals against trademark rejection decisions issued by the UAE Trademark Office. Successfully overturned refusals related to distinctiveness, similarity, and formalities, securing trademark registrations for clients across diverse sectors through persuasive legal arguments before the Ministry of Economy and the Grievance and Appeal Committees.
- Represented clients in multiple trademark opposition proceedings and counter-oppositions before the UAE Trademark Office, challenging conflicting or infringing applications. Successfully prevented registration of marks that posed a likelihood of confusion or dilution, and defended clients’ applications against oppositions filed by third parties, ensuring protection and enforcement of trademark rights.
- Acted in numerous trademark infringement actions and customs seizure cases across the UAE, securing injunctions, confiscation orders, and destruction of counterfeit goods. Worked closely with UAE Customs authorities and law enforcement to block imports of infringing products and enforce clients’ IP rights through civil, criminal, and administrative proceedings.
