SUMMARY PROFILE
Ziad is a bilingual Associate in the Arbitration and International Litigation Department at M&CO Legal, where he plays an integral role in the firm’s dispute resolution practice. He initially joined the firm’s Litigation Department in late 2022 and has since supported both the Litigation and Arbitration teams in managing domestic and international commercial disputes. His arbitration experience includes proceedings conducted under the rules of DIAC, ICC, and UNCITRAL, among others.
Ziad has advised and represented clients across a broad spectrum of contentious matters, including disputes related to construction, real estate, insurance, commercial agency, maritime, employment, tenancy, shareholder issues, and general commercial conflicts. He also regularly serves as a Tribunal Secretary in arbitration proceedings administered by DIAC, ICC, and CRCICA.
In addition to his expertise in international litigation and alternative dispute resolution—particularly in arbitration—Ziad handle domestic litigation across all UAE courts, including the Ruler’s Court and the Rental Dispute Centers. His practice spans a wide range of matters, including civil, commercial, employment, tenancy, construction, maritime, and banking disputes. He also advises on the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards, ratification of domestic arbitral awards, and interim measures related to arbitration proceedings before UAE courts.
Before joining M&CO Legal, Ziad worked at top-tier law firms in Egypt, where he gained substantial experience in legal research, advisory, and negotiated settlements. This international exposure helped him build a strong foundation in cross-border legal matters.
Ziad holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Trade from Ain Shams University, which he earned through Postgraduate Diplomas in Private Law and International Trade in 2021. His academic background and diverse legal experience equip him to navigate complex legal challenges in both domestic and international contexts.
Experience
Before joining M&CO Legal, Ziad had worked in the Arbitration Department at Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy Law Firm, where he handled various Commercial Arbitration matters and drafting of arbitral memoranda representing Multinational Clients in various areas of Law, including Concession agreements, Construction, Competition, and Maritime Law.
During Ziad’s L.L.B studies he was keen to utilize the most of his summers and academic years, therefore he had the opportunity to intern for Zulficar & Partners Law Firm in the department of Mergers & Acquisitions in addition to interning for Adsero -Ragy Soliman & Partners Law Firm in both the Litigation and Corporate departments in Egypt.
